I was always interested in ancient civilizations and antiquity. Most of the surviving remnants of ancient cultures are fragments of pottery and smashed sculpture. My concept here was to take older “archaic” works of mine, and smash or chop them into fragments then rearrange them into an interesting assembly. The many details create an intriguing interplay of anatomy, shapes, texture and color. This “one of a kind” piece is dynamic as the light changes throughout the day. I especially like the fragments in the mid section that are halfway between dark and light. The artwork has Aluminum paint and Mars black artist pigment to produce the transition from dark to light, it looks best displayed in a brightly lit room. The bright metal colored shards are the Alpha and Omega symbols which symbolize the beginning and end, in religious texts this implies God is All- where in this case the Equine is All.

The 2 full images show the piece properly in its true colors in bright daylight from 2 angles- showing the reflective aluminum paint / mars black and all details.

All of the detail shots below were taken in Black and White- to show pure form- that’s why they look different.
